God's attributes (3)

Perfect Righteousness

  • God is perfectly righteous, meaning His judgements and actions are always just and aligned with His holy nature.
  • His righteousness is synonymous with His holiness; He hates sin because it contradicts His just nature.
  • His holiness requires holding sinners accountable, as He cannot condone evil.

Biblical Evidence:

  • Genesis 18:25 (NIV): "Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked and treat the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
  • This emphasises God as a just judge who does not oppress anyone.
  • Psalm 19:7-9 (NIV): "The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. 
  • This psalm highlights the perfection and justice of God’s judgements.
  • Psalm 145:17 (NIV): "The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all he does."
  • This links God’s righteousness and mercy.
  • Jeremiah 9:24 (NIV): "But let all who take pride boast in this: that they know and understand me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on the earth, for this is what I delight in,’ declares the Lord."
  • This emphasises God’s delight in justice and righteousness as part of His nature.

Significance:

  • God’s righteousness ensures all His actions and judgements are just and consistent with His holiness.
  • This makes God a just judge who judges sin but offers mercy through redemption.
  • His righteousness provides confidence that He will judge justly while offering salvation through His grace.

Perfect Love, Grace, Mercy, and Faithfulness

  • God loves His creation with great, infinite, and unconditional love.
  • He demonstrated His love through the life and sacrifice of His Son on the cross to redeem mankind.
  • His love is an act of His will to give Himself to His creation, showing His generosity and devotion.
  • His love is manifested in creation and redemption, as He lovingly created the world and offers salvation to sinners.
  • His holiness condemns sin, but His love offers salvation to sinners through grace.
  • His patience and mercy are undeserved, granting mercy to those who do not deserve it.
  • He pities the sinner and seeks their eternal salvation, showing His deep mercy.
  • His sorrow for the suffering of His creatures prompts Him to act with mercy and compassion.
  • God is trustworthy, faithful, and true to His word; He never breaks His promises.

Biblical Evidence:

  • Deuteronomy 7:7-8 (NIV): "The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations... but because the Lord loved you."
  • This shows God’s love as the motive for choosing His people.
  • John 14:31 (NIV): "But so that the world may know that I love the Father and do exactly what the Father has given me to do." Stuart Christ’s love and obedience to the Father.
  • Romans 5:5, 8 (NIV): "And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us... But God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

البرّ الكامل (Perfect Righteousness)

الله بارّ كامل، أي أن أحكامه وأعماله دائمًا عادلة ومتوافقة مع طبيعته القدوسة.
برّ الله ملازم لقداسته؛ فهو يكره الخطية لأنها تتعارض مع طبيعته العادلة.
قداسته تقتضي محاسبة الخطاة، لأنه لا يستطيع أن يبرّر الشر أو يتغاضى عنه.

الدليل الكتابي:

تكوين 18:25
«حَاشَا لَكَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَ مِثْلَ هذَا الأَمْرِ، أَنْ تُميتَ الْبَارَّ مَعَ الشِّرِّيرِ، فَيَكُونَ الْبَارُّ كَالشِّرِّيرِ. حَاشَا لَكَ! أَدَيَّانُ كُلِّ الأَرْضِ لاَ يَصْنَعُ عَدْلاً؟»

تُبرز هذه الآية الله كديّان عادل لا يظلم أحدًا.

مزمور 19:7–9
«نَامُوسُ الرَّبِّ كَامِلٌ يَرُدُّ النَّفْسَ. شَهَادَاتُ الرَّبِّ صَادِقَةٌ تُصَيِّرُ الْجَاهِلَ حَكِيمًا. وَصَايَا الرَّبِّ مُسْتَقِيمَةٌ تُفَرِّحُ الْقَلْبَ. أَمْرُ الرَّبِّ طَاهِرٌ يُنِيرُ الْعَيْنَيْنِ. مَخَافَةُ الرَّبِّ نَقِيَّةٌ ثَابِتَةٌ إِلَى الأَبَدِ. أَحْكَامُ الرَّبِّ حَقٌّ عَادِلَةٌ كُلُّهَا.»

يُظهر هذا المزمور كمال وعدل أحكام الله.

مزمور 145:17
«الرَّبُّ بَارٌّ فِي كُلِّ طُرُقِهِ، وَرَحِيمٌ فِي كُلِّ أَعْمَالِهِ.»

تربط هذه الآية بين برّ الله ورحمته.

إرميا 9:24
«بَلْ بِهذَا يَفْتَخِرُ الْمُفْتَخِرُ: بِأَنَّهُ يَفْهَمُ وَيَعْرِفُنِي أَنِّي أَنَا الرَّبُّ الصَّانِعُ رَحْمَةً وَقَضَاءً وَعَدْلاً فِي الأَرْضِ، لأَنِّي بِهذِهِ أُسَرُّ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ.»

تُبرز هذه الآية أن البرّ والعدل جزء أصيل من طبيعة الله وما يسرّه.

الأهمية:

برّ الله يضمن أن كل أعماله وأحكامه عادلة ومتوافقة مع قداسته.
وهذا يجعله ديّانًا عادلًا يُدين الخطية، لكنه في الوقت نفسه يقدّم الرحمة من خلال الفداء.
وبرّه يمنح المؤمنين ثقة كاملة بأن الله سيحكم بعدل، ويمنح الخلاص بنعمته.


المحبة الكاملة، والنعمة، والرحمة، والأمانة

(Perfect Love, Grace, Mercy, and Faithfulness)

يحبّ الله خليقته بمحبة عظيمة، غير محدودة، وغير مشروطة.
وقد أعلن هذه المحبة عمليًا من خلال حياة ابنه وذبيحته على الصليب لفداء البشر.
محبة الله هي فعل إرادي يمنح فيه ذاته لخليقته، مُظهرًا سخاءه وإخلاصه.
تتجلّى محبته في الخلق والفداء، إذ خلق العالم بمحبة ويعرض الخلاص للخطاة.
قداسته تدين الخطية، لكن محبته تقدّم الخلاص للخطاة بالنعمة.
صبره ورحمته غير مستحقَّين، إذ يمنح الرحمة لمن لا يستحقها.
يشفق الله على الخاطئ ويسعى إلى خلاصه الأبدي، مظهرًا عمق رحمته.
حزنه على آلام خليقته يدفعه إلى العمل بالرحمة والحنان.
الله أمين، صادق، وجدير بالثقة؛ لا ينقض وعوده أبدًا.

الدليل الكتابي:

تثنية 7:7–8
«لَيْسَ مِنْ كَوْنِكُمْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الشُّعُوبِ تَعَلَّقَ الرَّبُّ بِكُمْ وَاخْتَارَكُمْ… بَلْ مِنْ أَجْلِ مَحَبَّةِ الرَّبِّ إِيَّاكُمْ.»

تُظهر هذه الآية أن محبة الله هي الدافع لاختيار شعبه.

يوحنا 14:31
«وَلَكِنْ لِيَعْلَمَ الْعَالَمُ أَنِّي أُحِبُّ الآبَ، وَكَمَا أَوْصَانِي الآبُ هكَذَا أَفْعَلُ.»

تُظهر محبة المسيح وطاعته للآب.

رومية 5:5، 8
«لأَنَّ مَحَبَّةَ اللهِ قَدِ انْسَكَبَتْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا بِالرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ الْمُعْطَى لَنَا… وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ بَيَّنَ مَحَبَّتَهُ لَنَا، لأَنَّهُ وَنَحْنُ بَعْدُ خُطَاةٌ مَاتَ الْمَسِيحُ لأَجْلِنَا.»

تُبرز هذه الآيات محبة الله المتجلّية في ذبيحة المسيح.

رومية 8:35، 39
«مَنْ سَيَفْصِلُنَا عَنْ مَحَبَّةِ الْمَسِيحِ؟… وَلاَ خَلِيقَةٌ أُخْرَى تَقْدِرُ أَنْ تَفْصِلَنَا عَنْ مَحَبَّةِ اللهِ الَّتِي فِي الْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ.»

تُظهر هذه الآيات محبة الله الثابتة غير المنفصلة.

1 يوحنا 4:8، 16
«اللهُ مَحَبَّةٌ… وَنَحْنُ قَدْ عَرَفْنَا وَصَدَّقْنَا الْمَحَبَّةَ الَّتِي لِلَّهِ فِينَا.»

تُعلن هذه الآيات أن المحبة هي جوهر طبيعة الله.

رومية 5:1
«فَإِذْ قَدْ تَبَرَّرْنَا بِالإِيمَانِ، لَنَا سَلاَمٌ مَعَ اللهِ بِرَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ.»

رومية 3:24
«مُتَبَرِّرِينَ مَجَّانًا بِنِعْمَتِهِ بِالْفِدَاءِ الَّذِي بِيَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ.»

خروج 34:6–7
«الرَّبُّ، الرَّبُّ إِلهٌ رَحِيمٌ وَرَؤُوفٌ، بَطِيءُ الْغَضَبِ وَكَثِيرُ الإِحْسَانِ وَالْوَفَاءِ، حَافِظُ الإِحْسَانِ إِلَى أُلُوفٍ، غَافِرُ الإِثْمِ وَالْمَعْصِيَةِ وَالْخَطِيَّةِ.»

الأهمية:

محبة الله الكاملة هي أساس علاقته بخليقته، محبة غير مشروطة ولا محدودة.
تتجلّى هذه المحبة في الخلق والفداء بدم المسيح.
نعمته ورحمته تُمنحان لمن لا يستحق، مؤسِّستين الخلاص.
وأمانته تضمن أن وعوده لا تتغيّر أبدًا.
بهذه الصفات، يكون الله مصدر الرجاء والخلاص لكل من يرجع إليه.
