Meaning of inspiration 

The Bible is Inspired by God[i]

• 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV): "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
• 2 Peter 1:20–21 (NIV): "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."

Understanding the Inspiration of Scripture

• Inspiration means the entire Bible was breathed out by God.
• The words of the Bible are both divine and human; God inspired them while using each author’s unique personality and background.
• The original manuscripts (autographs) were directly inspired.
• Human writers were divinely guided, so their words are the words of God.
• Inspiration is not a creative spark or literary genius; it is the infallible guidance of the Holy Spirit.
• It is not true that the Bible becomes the Word of God only when it is read or believed.
• It is not true that only parts or concepts of the Bible are inspired.
• The entire Bible is inspired; this includes spiritual and non-spiritual subjects alike.

Reasons Why the Bible Is the Word of God

• The Bible clearly declares itself to be the Word of God, not just by circular reasoning but by abundant testimony.

Old Testament Evidence:

• "Thus says the Lord” appears over 420 times.
• "The word of the Lord" appears 138 times.
• 280 Old Testament quotations are cited in the New Testament using the phrase: “as it is written”, showing it was regarded as authoritative.

• 2 Samuel 23:2 (NIV): "The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue."
• Jeremiah 1:9 (NIV): "Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, 'I have put my words in your mouth."
• Exodus 34:27 (NIV): "Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.'"

«كُلُّ الْكِتَابِ هُوَ مُوحًى بِهِ مِنَ اللهِ، وَنَافِعٌ لِلتَّعْلِيمِ وَالتَّوْبِيخِ، لِلتَّقْوِيمِ وَالتَّأْدِيبِ الَّذِي فِي الْبِرِّ.»

2 بطرس 1:20–21
«عَالِمِينَ هذَا أَوَّلًا: أَنَّ كُلَّ نُبُوَّةِ الْكِتَابِ لَيْسَتْ مِنْ تَفْسِيرٍ خَاصٍّ، لأَنَّهُ لَمْ تَأْتِ نُبُوَّةٌ قَطُّ بِمَشِيئَةِ إِنْسَانٍ، بَلْ تَكَلَّمَ أُنَاسُ اللهِ الْقِدِّيسُونَ مَسُوقِينَ مِنَ الرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ.»

فهم وحي الكتاب المقدس

الوحي يعني أن الكتاب المقدس كله قد نُفِخَ به من الله.
كلمات الكتاب المقدس هي في الوقت نفسه إلهية وبشرية؛ فقد أوحى الله بها مستخدمًا شخصية كل كاتب وخلفيته الخاصة.
المخطوطات الأصلية (الأصول) كانت موحى بها مباشرة.
كان الكتّاب البشريون مُساقين إلهيًا، لذلك كانت كلماتهم هي كلمات الله.
الوحي ليس إلهامًا أدبيًا أو عبقرية بشرية، بل هو إرشاد معصوم من الروح القدس.
ليس صحيحًا أن الكتاب المقدس يصير كلمة الله فقط عندما يُقرأ أو يُؤمَن به.
وليس صحيحًا أن أجزاءً فقط أو مفاهيم معينة منه هي الموحى بها.
الكتاب المقدس كله موحى به، ويشمل ذلك الأمور الروحية وغير الروحية على السواء.

يصرّح الكتاب المقدس بوضوح أنه كلمة الله، لا اعتمادًا على منطق دائري فقط، بل من خلال شهادة غزيرة ومتكررة.

• عبارة «هكذا قال الرب» وردت أكثر من 420 مرة.

• عبارة «كلمة الرب» وردت 138 مرة.

• اقتُبس العهد القديم في العهد الجديد 280 مرة باستخدام عبارة «كما هو مكتوب»، مما يدل على اعتباره مرجعًا ذا سلطان.
